Workers.coop is launching Own The Future, its first accelerator programme for workers leading the transition to a new economy 🦺Â
In 2026, we will recruit five groups across the country for a one-year support programme of training, mentoring, specialist advice and peer support. Groups will learn how to set up and run a workers co-op, build viable business models, integrate degrowth practices into their organisation, and connect with peer across the worker co-op movement. Each group will receive £5,000 of start-up funding and bespoke business advice worth £1,000, dependent on participation.Â
We are looking for groups across the UK with a fully formed idea for a business, who believe the worker co-op model could be a right fit and could truly benefit from this opportunity. This could just be at the idea stage, or you may have started some trading. The programme is also open to conversions, if you're a traditional business looking to convert to a worker co-op. We are particularly interested in food, housing and retrofit, transport and care business.
The programme starts in March. Groups can register their interest now to receive the application pack. Selected groups will be invited for an interview in February.
