Grow a Grocery study visit at Unicorn

About the event

As Unicorn celebrates thirty years in business, we want to double down on our commitment to solidarity in co-operation, and share some of what we've learned with existing and potential co-operators.
As Unicorn celebrates thirty years in business, we want to double down on our commitment to solidarity in co-operation, and share some of what we've learned with existing and potential co-operators. The study day is designed to complement our existing Grow a Grocery guide, a free guide to establishing & running a wholefoods supermarket based on our model.

The study visit will involve a tour of the site, and informal learning sessions with co-op members on Unicorn's:
  • commercial model (scale, range, pricing, location etc)
  • worker co-op structure & governance
  • buying practices (general & commodities)
  • veg trading & buying
The day is suitable for anyone interested in setting up an affordable, worker-run wholefood supermarket with strong sourcing and trading values. It's also aimed at those running existing enterprises looking to scale up and/or convert to the worker co-op model....or simply to learn from others in the field.

Spaces are very limited, and although individuals are welcome to apply, we may have to prioritise those who are already working as part of a group and are some way along the road to planning or running a co-operative wholefood enterprise. To express interest in coming along, please complete this form by 18th Feb. We'll let you know by the end of Feb if we're able to accomodate you.
