Interest in undertaking research with workers.coop?

Thank you for your interest in undertaking academic research with workers.coop, or worker co-operatives more generally.

Before contacting us, please ensure that you have read the ‘about us’ section of the website (https://www.workers.coop/about-us/), and have looked through the resources available.

If you still wish to discuss your research, you can contact the Research Working Group here: research@workers.coop. Please ensure that you provide as much detail as possible regarding your research, including:

  • Who you are
  • Where you are based
  • Why you are interested in doing research with workers.coop or the wider worker cooperative movement
  • A description of the research
  • What you need from us
  • How your research is going to benefit the cooperative movement: Please note that this is particularly important. Too often, research is extractive: participants give large amounts of time for free and get nothing back in return. We will only work with researchers if they are willing to engage in a mutually beneficial relationship. This can take a number of forms:
    • Your research may benefit worker cooperatives through the knowledge that it generates. If this is the case, please describe how you plan to share this knowledge with worker cooperatives.
    • You may wish to contribute to worker cooperatives through volunteering undertaken as part of your research. If this is your intention, please outline any specific areas of interest and how long you would like to volunteer for.

What to expect

The Research Working Group will reply to your email as soon as possible.

However, please note that the group meets once every one to two months, so responses and decisions may take some time. Please bear with us.

We receive many requests for research, and while we would love to be able to support and engage with all of these requests, we simply do not have the time or capacity to do so.
