News #7: Events special
As England lose in the World Cup and the season turns cool and damp, we're
aiming to lift the mood. This October we celebrate our first in-person event, the Autumn Assembly, which brings cooperators together from all over the UK to Birmingham. More below.

Autumn Assembly: 25 - 26th Oct

We are bringing together as many members as we can in Birmingham on the 25-26th October to celebrate, review the first year of workers.coop, and work together on the next stage in the life of the organisation. Check out the programme here and add your ideas. You can connect with other worker co-ops, form peer networks, strategise, organise local coop meetups, be inducted and attend training.

As well as that, there’ll be a tour of local worker co-ops, arts & crafts and a quiet room, and some organised fun in the form of a party with music on the first night.

We are offering different pricing based on ability to pay and you’ll find accommodation recommendations here. Come join us.

The Lionesses lose

Collective organisation and a good game plan tied together individual talent to help the Lionesses get all the way to the final, sadly not winning this time.

But, as team captain Leah Williamson said, “This is not just about winning...or even the competition. It’s about creating a legacy and that’s a much more powerful vision for people to buy into.”

We want to create a vision of worker cooperation, collective organisation and making worker co-ops an accessible alternative. That’s why we’ve set up workers.coop. So join, come to the Assembly, and link up.

News shorts

Delta-T Devices has reorganised with a new Engineering Department that focuses purely on product development. Delta-T are based in Burwell, Cambridgeshire, where they design and manufacture sensors and other instruments for growers and scientists, helping them manage the ecological issues of our time. They recently launched the Wet 150 soil sensor, a culmination of 40 year's work, delivering research-grade accuracy and build quality. Thanks for this to Mike Rudge, Chair of Delta-T’s cooperative group, who also served on the Worker Co-op Council.

Autonomic, a tech co-op of 13 members and Co-Tech member, specialise in development, integrated open source infrastructure, hosting & support. They are seeking partners to support a potential project 'Commune OS', which would work with radical collectives and digital technology to support activities like decision-making, agricultural automation and virtual collaboration in the field of sustainability. Check it out here.

Go Free Range are working on a new platform to allow music fans to connect with, and financially support, their favourite musicians - 100% run by, and for the benefit of, the musicians, fans and people who build it. Get in touch to know more about the new platform.

COODING is the first event for worker cooperators in digital and new technology to be hosted by our international federation CECOP-CICOPA Europe. It’s on 29-30 September, in Bologna, Italy. Our sister network Worker Co-op Solidarity Fund is supporting members to participate with a contribution for train travel and accommodation expenses. If you’re a member of both workers.coop and Solidfund, you can find out how to put your name forward either in the Solidfund Loomio channel or the workers.coop forum. CECOP is particularly  looking for women to attend.

Order a stack of the new edition of the Worker Co-op Code by emailing sion@calverts.coop - minimum 10 copies, no reasonable maximum.

Members can request a batch of hard ceramic pin badges from sion@calverts.coop. They’re also free because our member Calverts donated the design, production and distribution - minimum order 5 pins, but you can ask for more.
